Strategy

Business concept - Swedwood’s business concept includes all steps in the value adding process that begins in the forest and ends in homes and work places. It contains all aspects of forest management, saw mills, production of boards and components, manufacture of furniture and distribution. Our overall target is to ensure cost-effectiveness in all parts of this chain, such as optimising the infrastructure, the utilisation of production units and its equipment and also maximising the yield from input resources yet minimising environmental impacts.

Production concept - Swedwood sets up or further develop existing production units into larger process oriented units and sites in order to maximise capacity utilisation. The production is concept based and as a rule each unit should focus on one production technique, one type of raw material and one cluster of products or product ranges to optimise efficiency and volumes. This concept also ensures short lead times and efficient distribution.

Organisation - Swedwood’s organisation is designed so it and the production concept correspond. Consequently it is divided into business sectors with each business sector having operational responsibility for the analogous production concept. Our organisation is much decentralised and thus we put strong emphasis on networking between production and support units to efficiently manage resources and synergies. EHS issues, material administration and technical development are co-ordinated centrally but work largely via local participation in networks and certain set structures.
