| Your reliable business partner
Swedwood is an industrial group of companies whose primary function is to manufacture and distribute furniture. We “integrate backwards” in the supply chain to lower our costs and efficiently distribute our products. We are open to every possible type of cost cutting, and IKEA’s motto, “Nothing is impossible”, is the guiding principle throughout our business. Swedwood is owned by IKEA, which has more than 200 stores in over 20 countries and sales exceeding EUR 17 billion. Most of our furniture goes to IKEA stores all over the world. Although IKEA is our largest customer, most of its products come from other suppliers. That´s why we always have to stay competitive, yet offer cutting edge ability in those geographical and technical areas where IKEA does not have any other good outside alternatives. The Swedwood group consists of 36 production units in nine countries, and we have projects in another two. We employ a staff of more than 14,000 and the value of our total production is currently about MEUR 1,300, with Eastern Europe representing 70% of this amount. Since the establishment in 1991, Swedwood has consistently expanded by means of annual investments in existing production units, while starting new ones in areas with good forest resources, especially in Eastern Europe. We invest on a longterm basis, and expect continued significant growth. Successfully operating a business like Swedwood means many challenges and demands advanced cooperation based on individual expertise and whole-hearted commitment. We constantly work towards a rapid expansion and improvements in order to maintain our technological edge, develop our logistics and follow our own strict environmental requirements. Every new plant that Swedwood sets up means export income, new technology, jobs and growth, often in places with a high unemployment rate. In this way, we are contributing to social development, and often experience the creative pleasure of transforming solid wood into furniture for people all over the world. |
